WWE is a bizarre place. As spectators we have been served with every sort of imaginative fantasy that Vince and his boys could come up with. Yeah, WWE has its own world where a ‘Dead man’ walks free, the midgets run their own court in a freaking little world beneath a wrestling ring, a resident ‘Hulk’ ran wild once and a ‘Big Red Monster’ has a history of screwing a dead woman (RIP Katie Vick).
Yes pals, I talk about a world where a 90 year old lady can give birth to a baby in front of the entire roster and well…the Boss LITERALLY makes his employees kiss his 60 years old…well…uh…butt (I hate these PG ratings!).
So, in the past 50 odd years of WWE/WWF history, we have seen a hell lot of things. There have been some great wrestling monikers donned by some truly legendary superstars.
But then there have been a few men and their characters that bring out the “What the f” out of us.
Did you know a top WWE Superstar just wrestled outside the company? More details HERE
These five men have been by far the weirdest of them all. They have crossed limits of shame, sanity and all such terms to make their monikers, their gimmicks work.
Making a list, that too so precise and short is a tough task. It always begs for arguments and I am all geared up for my share of criticism. Hell even I am a part of the ever cynical “IWC”.
5. Vito

So there was this big guy called Big Vito who used to team up with his good friend Nunzio inside the WWE ring and win a few tag team matches occasionally.
One day a few other guys spotted him in some very disturbing state (as the image shows) at different public places like gym and eateries and parking lot. They went to his best buddy Nunzio and did some bitching about this poor guy who just wanted to cross dress. Nunzio didn’t believe his ears until one day when Vito appeared in women’s clothing to the ring.
The ‘sane’ partner had some issues with this fetish of his best friend and they settled those issues in a match, soon after which they treaded their own separate paths.
This entire idea of presenting a big guy like Vito and then executing that idea on a national television, made for some weird experiences for the viewers across the world! It is said to be Stephanie’s idea! No wonder huh!
4. Eugene

wwe.com
It has never really been a dream for me as a wrestling fan to see a childish superstar trying to pick out dandruff out of his head in the WWE ring. Eugene was entertaining and ‘cute’ sometimes and Nick Dinsmore was a talented wrestler but it’s because of such acts that I am unable to defend my sanity to the haters for being a WWE fan.
3. George “the animal” Steele

George Steele is an understated legend. He wrestled the likes of Bruno Samartino in 60s to Hulk Hogan and Macho Man in his prime during the 80s. But anyone who ever saw him or faced him in that squared circle would agree to the fact that he was weird like hell. He was given the gimmick of an animal and he cultivated it into his personality. He would tear the turnbuckle foam with his teeth and then flaunt his artistry with his green tongue. His hairy beast like body, stooped posture, antiques during the match and his “Duh-da-dahh” added to the bizarre nature of his character.
2. Boogeyman

“I am the Bogeyman” his music would say.
A Bogeyman (also spelled Bogieman or Boogeyman) is a mythical creature in many cultures used by adults to frighten children into compliant behaviour.
Yeah, he did exist, in stories and in WWE.
He ate worms, came out of nowhere whenever he felt like, kidnapped valets and broke clocks on his head for no reason. If that is not weird for you, well, I don’t know then.
1. Artist formerly known as “Goldust”

We all love the 24 carat original Goldust and for the matter of fact, he alone can take all the 5 spots in the list and I am not exaggerating. This list cannot be complete without him.
Goldust is not called “The Bizarre One” for nothing. He personifies the word ‘bizarre’. His attire, his style, his “oooooohs and aaaaahs” are not exactly normal looking.
Things went to another level when he decided to become “Artist formerly known as Goldust”. During this period, he became so bizarre that viewers would change sides in their couch out of discomfort.
Dustin Runnels is one of the finest technicians and an amazing actor. Goldust is a legend, hall of fame worthy legend. “Artist formerly known as Goldust” was weird. Period!
