Mickie James returned to The WWE to battle Asuka during a NXT pay per view and while she ultimately fell short of ending The Empress of Tomorrow's undefeated streak, she did later earn herself a spot on The Smackdown Live roster. She later transitioned to Raw during The Superstar shakeup, where she teamed up with Alexa Bliss to battle Nia Jax.
Unfortunately for James, Alexa Bliss has begun appearing without her sidekick, which seems to point to WWE having less and less for the former Women's champion to do. Of course she could serve as a sqash match if needed or even work very well as a manager if needed, but with so many others out there that can do the same thing, does WWE even need her anymore?
