Former AEW star to enter Royal Rumble match, Rey Mysterio retires at WrestleMania? - 4 Possible directions for Penta after triumphant WWE debut

After several weeks of speculation, Penta made a huge impact with his WWE debut on the second episode of RAW on Netflix. The Luchador emerged as Chad Gable's mystery opponent, and the two had a great back-and-forth contest to kick off the in-ring portion of the night.

The night was obviously special for the former IMPACT World Champion as his family was present in the front row and shown on camera throughout the match.

Penta even cut a post-match promo declaring it was a "New Era" of Penta. That "New Era" can go in one of the next four directions after his successful WWE debut on RAW tonight.

#4. Penta could go after the Intercontinental Championship

Bron Breakker has been battling Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser for the better part of the last few months. He's defeated both in singles action and a Triple Threat match at the end of 2024.

The Celtic Warrior will get another shot at the title at Saturday Night's Main Event, but Breakker needs new challengers. If he's ever going to be thrust into the main event scene in WWE, officials have to gauge how the newcomer can do as a midcard Champ first.

Penta obviously has the aura and charisma to match his in-ring game. If he continues to build his resume of good matches, fans would love to see Breakker face the dark Luchador for the Intercontinental title.

#3. Could join The LWO

Almost every Latin star who has joined WWE over the last few years has either joined or faced Rey Mysterio and the LWO. Santos Escobar allied with Rey, as did Dragon Lee and Carlito.

Carlito and Escobar eventually turned on the former WWE Champ. Penta held his own in the ring and spoke in English and Spanish during his promo after beating Gable.

If WWE wants him to speak less, he could join the LWO. It may not be necessary since stars like IYO SKY, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Dragon Lee have cut promos in their native tongues.

#2. Declare for the Royal Rumble

It's Royal Rumble season, and several big names have declared their intentions to win the annual match. John Cena threw his name into the hat, and Roman Reigns' "participation" was announced by Paul Heyman.

CM Punk, Seth Rollins, and Drew McIntyre also did so in the same segment on RAW. The talented Luchador has competed in battle royals before, but nothing as big as the Royal Rumble.

Having the newest signing compete in one of WWE's biggest matches makes sense. It could set up his potential feud for WrestleMania 41. It's in Las Vegas, and Penta is a huge star on the West Coast of the United States.

#1. Could turn heel and retire Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 41

As previously mentioned, most Luchadors or Latin stars who join WWE eventually cross paths with Rey Mysterio. He won tag team gold with his son Dominik Mysterio and feuded with him.

Dragon Lee joined his side, as did Escobar, Carlito, Zelina Vega, Cruz Del Toro, and Joaquin Wilde. While it's not a necessity, WWE will likely have the two cross paths at some point very soon.

The former AEW star has worked with Rey outside of WWE and would probably be comfortable doing so again. If he does, it could set up an eventual heel turn since that's primarily what Rey has been used for in the LWO.

While it would be too soon to turn the extremely popular Penta heel, he can work both sides of the coin. It would also set up a blockbuster match for The Show of Shows, where Penta could eventually retire the Lucha Legend.
