Former champion to replace Dakota Kai amid her injury in Damage CTRL? Exploring the chances

Last week on Monday Night RAW, Damage CTRL's Dakota Kai was scheduled to face Sonya Deville in a singles match. However, Deville, Shayna Baszler, and Zoey Stark attacked Kai backstage before the bout.

According to reports, the angle was done to write off Dakota Kai from weekly programming, as she is currently dealing with a legit injury. If that's the case and her injury is serious, then IYO SKY will have to replace Kai. While many superstars could fill up the former Women's Tag Team Champion's boots, Kiana James would probably be the best superstar to replace Dakota.

Before debuting on the main roster earlier this year, Kiana James impressed the WWE Universe during her time on NXT. Her businesswoman gimmick helped establish James as a smart superstar, and she could use this persona to help Damage CTRL. If IYO SKY recruits the former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion, then the latter could help her get into the title picture on RAW.

While speculative, doing something like that would only benefit Damage CTRL. It will be interesting to see if SKY does something along these lines on RAW tonight.

Wrestling veteran questioned why Dakota Kai was in WWE

After being released from WWE in 2022, Dakota Kai returned to the Stamford-based promotion with Damage CTRL. Since being part of the faction, Dakota has received mixed reviews from the fans. However, a wrestling veteran recently became very critical of Kai's performance.

The wrestling veteran in question is Konnan. During an episode of his Keepin' It 100 podcast, the WCW veteran mentioned that Dakota Kai does not fit in and questioned why was she still in WWE:

"She's been there two years and for the whole two years, I've been very vocal about her. She doesn't fit in, she's not entertaining, she hasn't done anything to capture my attention, she even did a thing where she turned on Bayley that never went anywhere. I just think she's one of these girls that maybe they like her backstage because she's professional, she's on time, she's friendly, all that ****. But I don't give a **** about any of that. You know, if you're not entertaining then why are you even there, you know? I just don't, I see nothing in her." [From 02:15 to 03:01]

As of now, Kai will reportedly be away from WWE programming due to her injury. It will be interesting to see what the Stamford-based promotion chooses to do with her once she returns.
