CM Punk’s signing with the UFC has generated a lot of reactions from the UFC fighters some of whom are excited to fight the former WWE superstar when he hits the octagon.
However, Jason David Frank, the Green Power Ranger, perhaps was the only one who had his sights set on Punk several months prior to his UFC move. Earlier this year, he had challenged Punk to an MMA fight if the later would ever consider trying his hand at it. Frank’s manager reportedly even went to the extent of setting up a fight under the WSOF banner between his client and Punk.
After bringing up the fight on several occasions, the topic was revived after Punk announced his decision to join the UFC as Frank wrote the following on Facebook this morning about Punk signing with UFC:
“I’ve tried for years haha. you can’t just Join UFC you have to be invited and prove your self as a fighter. I have a lot of great friends who are GREAT fighters that still haven’t got Into the UFC. I Didn’t know with no fight experience you can. Well I was wrong. He’s in the UFC and that’s that. Don’t under estimate him though Brock did it, maybe he can too? PS I still would like a shot haha. JDF”
He also posted the following on Instagram stating that this was a professional callout intended for Punk.
