The Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will team up with Randy Orton and Kevin Owens to take on the latest iteration of The Bloodline in a Six-man Tag Team Match at Money in the Bank this Saturday, July 6 in Toronto. Jacob Fatu is expected to be in The Bloodline's corner after being officially declared as The Enforcer of the faction last week, which will make things more difficult for Rhodes, Orton and Owens.
This bout should almost be considered a must-win match for the three face superstars, as another loss to The Bloodline will not only be a setback, but it could also lead to new storylines, like Randy Orton attacking Cody Rhodes and starting a feud with him.
How likely is this to happen, though?
Randy Orton has to move on from The Bloodline storyline
Randy Orton has spent way much time fighting The Bloodline since he returned to action from a back injury that cost him 18 months of action.
Still, he has been unsuccessful on taking down the faction, inspite of having allies like Kevin Owens LA Knight with him. Maybe it is time he moves on from this storyline and get back to the title picture. To do so, he will have to go after Cody Rhodes, and the match at Money in the Bank could be the perfect opportunity to do so.
Randy Orton will need to have a heel turn
Randy Orton has been part of WWE for two decades now and has accomplished almost everything in his career. His best time in the company, however, has come as a heel and this might be the case here too.
The Viper has been a face for a very long time and a heel turn should be the next logical step for him. That way, it could lead to a feud with The American Nightmare, who is currently the face of WWE and the top babyface right now.
He could be Cody Rhodes' next opponent at SummerSlam
Cody Rhodes' opponent at Summerslam is yet to be revealed, with the major premium live event set to take place in less than a month from now - August 3.
Rhodes' title match is expected to be the main event, so a feud with Randy Orton would make sense here. WWE has a huge pool of backstory to dip into to add to this story, considering their past encounters.
With that in mind, if SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis plans to have an Orton vs. Rhodes match, an assault by The Viper at Money in the Bank would help set the tone for SummerSlam 2024.
