A former WWE World Heavyweight Champion may leave the company if he loses his match on RAW's debut episode on Netflix on January 6, 2024. He's none other than Seth Rollins. The Visionary has a high-voltage match against his bitter rival, CM Punk, whom Rollins hates.

It won't be wrong to assume that this would be the most important match of Rollins' career. The Visionary doesn't see eye-to-eye with Punk, even calling him a "cancer;" this was a feud waiting to happen.

When CM Punk marked his return to WWE at Survivor Series: WarGames last year, Rollins was immensely angry. He couldn't stop ranting when he saw Punk walking down the ramp. The anger was understandable.

Even before Punk returned to WWE, Rollins had been critical of the Straight Edge Superstar's attitude towards the company which had nurtured him for nearly a decade. On numerous occasions, Punk had said he would never return to the promotion. He had issues with Vince McMahon and current CCO Triple H.

In 2021, when he debuted in Tony Khan's AEW, it was assumed that Punk would stay in the Jacksonville promotion forever. However, as fate would have it, things changed drastically in August 2023 when Punk had a major brawl at AEW, which soon led to his exit from the promotion.

By October 2023, rumors began circulating that Punk was in talks with WWE, and he returned at Survivor Series: WarGames. It had been assumed Punk's first rivalry would be with Seth Rollins. The two had also not had a match before as Punk left in 2014 when Rollins was still making inroads as part of The Shield.

However, Punk got into a storyline with Drew McIntyre starting from Royal Rumble 2024 when the Scottish Warrior injured Punk. The torn triceps injury kept him from in-ring action for a long time. Now, Punk and Rollins will finally face each other to settle scores. If Rollins loses this battle, perhaps the most important fight of his career, he might quit the company.

CM Punk says he saved Seth Rollins from getting fired by WWE

In a backstage interview, Punk recently said he was confused by Seth's hatred towards him because he remembered a 16-year-old Seth Rollins coming to him, asking him to train him.

He further said that Seth Rollins wants to be on everybody's top-10 list, but remembers when Rollins was among the top 10 superstars to be fired from the promotion.

He said that he "shielded" him, hinting that getting Rollins to be part of The Shield faction saved him from being terminated by the company. One doesn't know if what Punk says is factually true, but what can't be ignored is that there is some real-life animosity between the two. We will have to wait and see who will come out on top in this epic battle on January 6, 2024.
