Drew McIntyre will face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at Crown Jewel 2023 this Saturday. Before this, The Scottish Warrior battled Intercontinental Champion Gunther at SummerSlam in a losing effort.
However, SummerSlam 2023 wasn’t the only event where McIntyre lost a title match this year. He also battled for the same championship at WrestleMania 39 against Sheamus and Gunther in a triple threat match, where The Ring General retained his belt.
Now that Drew McIntyre has a shot at another title, a returning Sheamus can cost him his chance of winning his third world championship with an unpredicted interference. While The Celtic Warrior is off WWE TV because of injury, he’s also the leader of The Brawling Brutes, Butch and Ridge Holland.

In his absence, The Brawling Brutes can interfere during The Scottish Warrior vs. The Visionary to cost the former his next title run.
This can set up a feud for Sheamus when he returns to WWE and further establish a segue for The Scottish Warrior’s rematch with Seth Rollins because of the interference.
Drew McIntyre is reportedly yet to sign a renewed contract
After WrestleMania 39, there were several speculations about McIntyre’s contract status and whether or not he’ll continue working with WWE. Some reports claimed that creative and pay differences delayed The Scottish Warrior’s return to the ring.
However, Drew McIntyre was reportedly off WWE TV because of an injury, and that time has been added back into his current contract. As a result, his current contract has been extended till April 2024.
Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Newsletter pointed out that unless The Scottish Warrior signs a new contract, he will unlikely dethrone Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel 2023.
''With McIntyre doing his unique turn it would be a perfect time for him to win the title, but unless he signs a new deal I don’t think they would make that call, even though they’ve got about five months before his contract would expire," Meltzer reported.
The Scottish Warrior has claimed he will do whatever it takes to redeem himself as champion and ensure he leaves Crown Jewel 2023 with the gold.
