The Judgment Day's Damien Priest and Finn Balor kicked off the latest edition of WWE RAW. However, they were interrupted by Cody Rhodes. This confrontation led to a match between Rhodes and Priest being confirmed for Crown Jewel 2023.
Soon after, Rhodes got a taste of what might happen to him at the premium live event in Saudi Arabia. After agreeing to the bout, The Judgment Day outnumbered Cody and launched a vicious attack on him. Hence, if The American Nightmare wants to have the upper hand at Crown Jewel, he will need backup.
The company could ensure Rhodes has his backup by booking the return of a Former WWE Champion. The star in question is Randy Orton. The Viper has been away from WWE due to an injury for over a year. However, with reports suggesting he is cleared to return, this would be the perfect opportunity.

Orton returning to help Cody Rhodes makes sense because the duo share plenty of history together. During Rhodes' early days in the Stamford-based promotion, The American Nightmare was part of Legacy, a faction led by Randy Orton. Hence, it would make sense for The Viper to return and reunite with his former teammate.

While Randy Orton helping Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel would be a sight worth watching, reports suggest the former World Heavyweight Champion will return at Survivor Series. If that's the case, fans will have to wait a few more days before they can see The Viper in action.
As per a tweet from WrestleVotes, Orton's return to the Stamford-based promotion could take place at Survivor Series or on the weekend of the premium live event in Chicago. The tweet also stated the necessary merchandise and branding for his return had been approved. Detailing Orton's return, the report stated:
"Regarding the Randy Orton return rumors, source states new merchandise & branding has been approved. Also, WWE will present a large social media promotion / digital material for the comeback. It’s indeed happening. Likely Survivor Series or that weekend."
If Randy Orton makes his return at Survivor Series, the former champion will receive a huge pop from the crowd.
It will be interesting to see whether Orton returns, and if he does, then whom he feuds against. Survivor Series is set to take place on November 25, 2023, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago.
