There have been theories circulating the wrestling world that Montez Ford will turn heel soon on WWE SmackDown after recently expressing frustrations about how Street Profits is handled. However, there has also been another duo that has shown signs of a possible split soon.

The former champion in question is Tommaso Ciampa. The former Tag Team Champion turned babyface on the June 19, 2023, episode of Monday Night RAW, challenging his former mentor, The Miz, during the episode. He reunited with Johnny Gargano in October and the pair has been teaming as DIY since then. However, Ciampa has recently been showing signs of his previous self like last week, wherein he single-handedly defeated Pretty Deadly without tagging in Johnny Gargano. Tonight on WWE SmackDown, his darker side can shine after Motor City Machine Gun's title defense.

MCMG is scheduled to face the Street Profits tonight after the latter group issued a challenge last week backstage. After the title match, DIY can be the next to confront the champions for a shot at gold. However, this can go south quickly with Tommaso attacking the champions while Johnny Gargano only watches his partner in shock.

Gargano can confront Ciampa about his actions or the following WWE SmackDown episodes. Later, it can be revealed that Johnny eventually agreed with his partner's perspective and actions and turn heel himself as well.

What did a Hall of Famer journalist have to say about DIY teasing a break-up on WWE SmackDown?

While some fans may be unhappy to see DIY possibly breaking up again, there are also those excited about what the future holds if it happens especially because Tommaso was an effective heel in NXT. Among those who joined the latter group is Bill Apter.

On an episode of Smack Talk, Bill Apter expressed that he wanted to see Ciampa go on a solo run again as he thinks he will be a better heel now. The veteran even suggested that a match between both men could take place at Royal Rumble or as early as Survivor Series. Apter also praised how the Stamford-based promotion is teasing the DIY split on WWE SmackDown.

"Ciampa is becoming a better madman than he was originally. And the whole thing with Johnny Wrestling there saying that Alex Shelley was one of my mentors. The two of them disagreeing with each other is setting up a really good pattern here of possibly Ciampa and Johnny splitting up again."
