What’s the story?
As per PWInsider, TNA and GFW founder Jeff Jarrett is currently taking a leave of absence, owing to which Alberto El Patron may be parting ways with the promotion.
As per several professional wrestling pundits, Alberto’s run with GFW was brought to fruition by Jarrett, and with him now stepping away from company obligations, El Patron’s return to GFW seems unlikely.
Additionally, Ed Nordholm -- the Executive Vice President of GFW-parent company Anthem Sports & Entertainment -- has apparently been looking to phase Alberto out of the company, which in turn is yet another sign towards the former WWE Champion leaving GFW.

In case you didn’t know…
The pro-wrestling organisation originally known as NWA-TNA, which later became TNA, is a company that was heralded by many as the best alternative to the WWE.
TNA eventually soared in popularity, following its inception in 2002, on the backs of stars such as AJ Styles, Velvet Sky, Gail Kim, Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle, to name a few, but ran into financial problems over the past couple of years, leading to several top performers quitting the company.
TNA was rebranded as GFW earlier this year, and taken over from Dixie Carter by Ed Nordholm-helmed Anthem Sports & Entertainment.
The heart of the matter
It was Nordholm who brought in Jeff Jarrett back into the ranks of the company, and Jarrett roped in the services of former WWE Champion Alberto El Patron.
Now that Jarrett seems to be stepping away from GFW, Alberto seems to be headed out too.
Furthermore, Ed Nordholm reportedly shares a strained working relationship with El Patron, and has been looking to get the former WWE Superstar out of GFW, for a while now.
What’s next?
Fans can expect Alberto El Patron to part ways with GFW in the days to come.
Author’s take
In my opinion, GFW overpaying Alberto is one of the many strategic errors the company has made as of late, and his departure would prove to be great for all parties involved.
Here’s hoping the Mexican megastar finds another home, likely on the talent-rich Mexican pro-wrestling circuit, in the days to come.
