What’s the story?
As noted during the latest episode of Impact Wrestling, former Impact World Heavyweight Champion Eli Drake was apparently seen firing his enforcer and tag team partner Chris Adonis for being “too scared” to compete in the “Feast or Fired” match.
In case you didn’t know…
Chris Adonis made his return to Impact Wrestling in 2017, when he competed in an eight-man tag team match featuring Matt Morgan, Magnus, Alberto El Patron, Bobby Lashley and more. Within the following weeks, Adonis would go on to establish himself as a heel when he attacked former Impact Grand Champion Moose from behind and eventually formed an alliance with former Impact World Heavyweight Champion Eli Drake in his feud against Moose.

However, earlier this year, Adonis seemingly confirmed on Twitter that he had officially parted ways with Impact Wrestling, a move that not even Impact Wrestling was aware of.
The heart of the matter
As seen on tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling, former Impact World Champion Eli Drake was seen conversing on the phone with Chris Adonis about the “Feast or Fired” match that took place tonight in the Impact Zone.
During the phone call, Adonis apparently stated that he was worried about getting fired from the company and thus decided to not show up for the match at all, leaving Eli Drake on his own. The call eventually ended with Eli Drake fired Chris Adonis from his position as his enforcer. Current speculation suggests that this move was apparently executed in order to write Adonis off Impact TV, following his unexpected departure from Impact Wrestling.
What’s next?
Chris Adonis is now expected to make his return to the Independent circuit, whereas, Eli Drake ended up getting one of the cases in the “Feast or Fired” match.
Author’s Take
Chris Adonis’ departure from Impact certainly came as a surprise to many people and the Impact Wrestling fans definitely did not see it coming.
