In case you didn’t know…
This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW saw the show closed out by a number-1 contender match between Kane and Braun Strowman.
The matchup ended in a Double Count-Out; resultantly, no clear challenger for Brock Lesnar’s WWE Universal title defence at the 2018 Royal Rumble emerged.
The heart of the matter
Veteran professional wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer explained that the WWE extensively brainstormed as to who should face Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble PPV—with several ideas being put forth for the Beast’s opponent at the event.
Nevertheless, WWE boss Vince McMahon opted to go with a Triple Threat Match between reigning Universal Champion Lesnar, Kane & Braun Strowman. Meltzer pointed out that the Triple Threat showdown for the ‘Rumble is the plan for now unless McMahon changes his mind at a later date.
Furthermore, it was also emphasized that Lesnar and Paul Heyman will be on RAW next week in order to speak about the number one contender situation that has arisen with Kane vs. Strowman ending without a significant conclusion. It’s highly likely that the WWE may announce the aforementioned Triple Threat for the ‘Rumble on next week’s episode.
What’s next?
Next week’s episode of Monday Night RAW will take place at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island on December 18th.
Fans can expect the WWE to provide clarity as to who’ll challenge for Lesnar’s Universal title at the Royal Rumble, next week on RAW.
