What's the story?

WWE's Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia is shaping up to be one of the biggest events the company has ever put on. However, Dave Meltzer has indicated in this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter that it could get even greater with WWE wanting Chris Jericho and the Undertaker to appear at the event.

In case you didn't know...

A whole bunch of things have already been announced for the Greatest Royal Rumble. We have the first five participants in the record-breaking fifty man Royal Rumble Match with Kane, Big Show, Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman and Daniel Bryan competing in it.

There will also be a couple of great-looking title matches with The Hardys vs The Bar for the Raw Tag-Team Titles and Seth Rollins vs Samoa Joe vs Finn Balor vs The Miz in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Title.

The heart of the matter

With the deal to host the show in Saudi Arabia reportedly being worth a lot of money to the WWE, the idea is that they went all hands on deck for this show and are looking to get as many of the big names in as possible. That's why Dave Meltzer has commented saying the following.

Because of the money in the deal with Saudi Arabia and running a 62,000-seat arena, they want all hands on deck. There were attempts to get both Undertaker and Jericho on the show, but at this point neither have been confirmed.

As you can see though, neither Jericho or Undertaker have been confirmed for the show yet, and Meltzer himself was unable to get any unofficial indication as to whether either man would be appearing at the show

What's next?

The Greatest Royal Rumble event will take place on April 27th, and the good news is for all of the fans out there who won't be traveling to Saudi Arabia to attend the event, it will be broadcast on the WWE Network.

Author's take

This show, plus WrestleMania 34 and NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, are making April look like potentially the best wrestling month the WWE have ever produced. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to it.
