What’s the story?
WWE Payback ended with the image of Roman Reigns laid out in the middle of the ring and from the looks of it, vomiting blood. The big question here is, did Roman Reigns actually bleed or was it planned all along?
In case you didn’t know...
Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman feuded on the road to WWE Payback. The build-up saw Strowman destroy Reigns in a backstage segment before toppling over the ambulance Roman was getting ready to be transported to the hospital in. Roman returned to WWE television at Payback where he fought Strowman in the main-event.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Even though Reigns brought the ‘big fight’ with him, it wasn’t enough to beat the ‘Monster Among Men’. After a brutal battle, Strowman had Reigns laid out on the mat, defeated and bleeding from the mouth
The heart of the matter
Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the ‘blood’ was pre-planned and used to get the match over. In recent years, when blood has been seen in WWE matches, it’s usually accidental. In the cases where it isn’t accidental, blood is usually seen in Brock Lesnar matches.
Even if the blood in Lesnar matches is pre-planned, WWE usually pretends that it isn’t.
In the case of the Strowman-Reigns match, Roman was clearly seeing lying bloody in the ring and the cameras didn’t shy away from the fact that there was blood which has led people to believe that the blood was part of a work to get this feud over as a brutal one.
What’s next?
It’s is being rumoured that the feud between Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns will culminate in an ambulance match at WWE Extreme Rules.
Author’s take
Our first reaction after seeing the blood is in line with this rumour. With everything Reigns and Strowman have thrown at each other, we weren’t surprised to see blood enter the equation. The use of blood is so rare in WWE nowadays, any match with blood is instantly elevated to a certain degree just because we get a glimpse of crimson.
