SK Exclusive: Kevin Owens headed for a babyface turn?

Will we see a babyface Kevin Owens soon?
Will we see a babyface Kevin Owens soon?

What’s the story?

Kevin Owens burst onto the scene in 2014 and he's always been a terrific heel. But could things be changing for KO?

In case you didn’t know

There aren't many people who are more different than their on-screen personas than Kevin Owens. If you only know KO from television you'd think he's a despicable person bent on causing pain and disorder wherever he goes. But in reality he's one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet.

When Owens first debuted at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution he was a babyface but that was very short lived. After Sami Zayn won the NXT Title from Adrian Neville in the main event Kevin came down to congratulate his friend and followed it up with a brutal beat down leaving Sami a broken wreck at ringside.

After jumping to WWE's main roster Kevin Owens kept up his winning ways as well as his heel attitude. He has some of the quickest and most biting comebacks on WWE's roster and seems to be a great fit against the WWE Universe's favorite babyfaces.

The heart of the matter

Kevin Owens might be a very bad man on WWE television but he still has a legion of fans who will love him no matter what he does. The fact is Kevin Owens could be a top babyface and he sees himself in that position as well. Our sources tell us Kevin is hoping to eventually be a "Stone Cold-like" top babyface in WWE and that's totally plausible.

Kevin also recently spoke to Argus Leader where he elaborated on what he's capable of in WWE.

"I don't really know as far as any ideas or plans that anybody would have for [turning me babyface]. But I think I can make anything work. If I can get people to boo me, then I can get people to cheer for me if I want. I'd be up for the challenge."

If Kevin sees himself as a top babyface in WWE then chances are that is what will eventually happen because KO isn't the kind of guy to give up on a goal.

What's Next?

Kevin Owens is currently in a heated rivalry with Shane McMahon with the apparent endgame of getting another shot at the US Championship. But in order to get Shane to change his decision saying Owens isn't allowed to challenge for the US Title as long as AJ Styles holds it, KO might have to do battle with Vince McMahon's baby boy.

If these two collide at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view it would be interesting to see what they could come up with, especially if WWE books the match inside the demonic cell structure.

Author's Take

I've been a Kevin Owens fan since day one. I wasn't fortunate enough to see his work in International Wrestling Syndicate as it happened but as soon as I found out there was an atypical wrestler who didn't fit the mold making huge waves in the indie scene I was hooked.

Kevin Owens has switched from heel to babyface before just like he used to be allies with Sami Zayn before their brutal battles begun. So whether Kevin Owens is a heel drawing heat or a babyface getting pops, I'll still be a KO fan until the bitter end.
