What’s the story?
According to Cageside Seats, former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler is expected to make his return at either the Royal Rumble or the SmackDown episode after the pay-per-view.
In case you did not know…
Dolph Ziggler had captured the United States championship at Clash of Champions after defeating Baron Corbin and Bobby Roode in a triple threat match. "The Showoff", however, surprised everyone by relinquishing the championship just a few days later on SmackDown Live.

In his promo, Ziggler said that the fans don’t deserve him and walked away after keeping the US championship in the ring. He was eventually pulled from the Live events as well, in turn leaving the fans in confusion.
The heart of the matter
The rumour suggests that Dolph Ziggler is likely to return to television during the Royal Rumble week. However, it is unclear on how WWE is planning to use Ziggler.
It should also be noted that the ongoing United States championship tournament to determine the new US champion concludes at Royal Rumble.
What’s next?
The 2018 edition of Royal Rumble is set to take place on January 28, 2018, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. For the first time ever, the show will host a Women’s Royal Rumble match.
Apart from this, a WWE championship match featuring AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn is also announced for the event whereas Brock Lesnar will defend his WWE Universal championship against Kane and Braun Strowman.
Author’s take
WWE is doing a great job with the Dolph Ziggler storyline. The fans are genuinely interested in knowing when Ziggler would return and WWE can bank on this curiosity to give Ziggler a push.
Two scenarios can play out if Ziggler is indeed returning at the Rumble. On one hand, he could go back into the United States championship scenario. Or Ziggler could get into the Royal Rumble match and make a big impact. Either way, the return of Ziggler will be a joy to watch.
