What's the story?
Following their behaviour at Ring of Honor: Final Battle there was some speculation that popular independent wrestling tag-team War Machine might be leaving the company. Now Dave Meltzer, on the Wrestling Observer Radio, has confirmed that all signs point towards Hanson and Raymond Rowe joining the WWE
In case you didn't know...
Hanson and Raymond Rowe have been the tag-team War Machine since 2014, and in that short amount of time have managed to secure the ROH World Tag Team Titles in Ring of Honor, and the IWGP Tag Team Titles twice in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
If you're not familiar with their work, here's a video of a match for Ring of Honor against The Briscoes.
The heart of the matter
Dave Meltzer discussed the future of War Machine on Wrestling Observer Radio and suggested that they were WWE bound. He said that they finished up with ROH on Saturday following their win against The Addiction.
They have also allegedly handed in their notice to NJPW, meaning that their last show with New Japan will either be Wrestle Kingdom (1/4) or New Year's Dash (1/5). This would clear up all of their independent obligations and leave them free for a move to WWE.
Meltzer goes on to suggest that it's pretty much a done deal, as long as the pair pass their medicals. They're expected to remain a tag-team and Dave further speculated that they'll be headed to NXT and will probably have to change their name.
What's next?
This seems about as concrete as the rumour that Ricochet (Prince Puma in Lucha Underground) is also WWE bound, but I'm willing to believe War Machine more, purely on the fact that Raymond Rowe is married to recent main roster call-up Sarah Logan, so they'd be working in the same company together.
Author's take
The WWE Tag-Team division seems to be, literally, getting bigger and bigger by the day, with teams like Author's of Pain, Heavy Machinery and The Bludgeon Brothers seeing recent success at the moment. So War Machine would only make it bigger!
