What's the story?
We've reported on the rumours suggesting that talented independent wrestler Ricochet and prominent tag-team War Machine were both WWE bound and now wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer has all but confirmed that these deals are done.
In case you didn't know...
As it's a new wrestling year there's been a swirl of speculation surrounding several current wrestlers on the independent circuit. However, there does seem to be some truth to the rumours surrounding Richochet and War Machine.
Ricochet has seemingly ended all of his obligations with NJPW and Lucha Underground, whilst War Machine have handed in their notice to NJPW and allegedly made their last appearance for them at New Years Dash.
The heart of the matter
Dave Meltzer was asked for an update on the potential WWE signings of War Machine and Ricochet and replied with a very brief, but an unambiguous response that will only be good news for WWE fans.
Obviously, Twitter confirmation doesn't mean that he is an absolute fact but he rarely commits so wholly to something unless he's fairly confident in his own deductions, or has a decent enough source on the matter.
What's next?
The closer we get to the Royal Rumble the more it looks like we'll be seeing Richochet making his WWE debut as a surprise entrant during the event in a similar move to AJ Styles' debut at the Rumble.
War Machine could debut at the Rumble too, but it's less likely for a tag-team to debut at the Rumble given that each man would need to enter separately, so I'm not too sure what the WWE might have planned for it.
Author's take
Both Ricochet and War Machine would be great acquisitions for the WWE's already incredibly stacked roster of talents. I just hope that when they're brought in the WWE has a good plan for what to do with them.
