From the WWE Rumor Mill: The Miz to become Intercontinental Champion 

What's the story?

As per Cageside Seats, the early expectation is for The Miz to Defeat Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Championship at the WWE RAW 25th Anniversary.

In case you didn't know...

The Miz is a former 7-time IC Champion and has the record for having held it for the most number of days in terms of combined reigns in WWE.

He lost the title to Roman Reigns on the night after Survivor Series, leading to Roman becoming a grand-slam Champion in WWE.

The Miz took a 6-week sabbatical after this loss in order to shoot for his movie-- The Marine 6. He returned to RAW on the 8th January episode and made it clear that he will be coming after the IC Champion in order to regain the Championship.

The heart of the matter

Roman Reigns is scheduled to defend his Intercontinental Championship against the Miz at the RAW 25th Anniversary Show and according to the rumours, it is believed that the Miz will be winning the Championship back and become an 8-time IC Champion.

It is being speculated that Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship is almost guaranteed to happen at Wrestlemania so it would make sense for Roman to drop the title now.

What's next?

The RAW 25th Anniversary is going to be absolutely remarkable. With a large number of WWE Legends making an appearance, it is going to be a true spectacle.

The intercontinental match will only add to the charm of the show as we might get to see a title change take place.

Author's take

I would have loved to see a Samoa Joe win the championship from Reigns at some point but due to his recent injury, it seems that will not be happening.

The Miz was one of the best IC Champions of all time and having him regain the belt would certainly be a smart move.
