In this new series, we look at the chances that WWE superstars have of emerging victorious in the Royal Rumble match. Last time, we assessed the chances of The Undertaker.
This time, we assess the chances of a man that many thought would be the new Undertaker; The Eater of Worlds, Bray Wyatt.
Bray Wyatt is a former WWE Champion and former RAW Tag Team Champion. He has won an Elimination Chamber match. He has gone up against the likes of John Cena, Randy Orton, The Rock, and The Undertaker at WrestleMania; all absolute legends of this industry.
He has never won a Royal Rumble match. He spent most of 2018 in a feud, and then tag-team with Woken Matt Hardy, before mysteriously disappearing.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
A Royal Rumble victory would be a fine way to re-introduce him. So, will Bray Wyatt win the 2019 men's Royal Rumble match? Let's find out.
The Case For Bray Wyatt Winning The 2019 Men's Royal Rumble Match
The WWE thinks very highly of Bray Wyatt. You don't have WrestleMania moments with The Rock, John Cena, and The Undertaker if the brass doesn't see something special in you.
You don't pin both AJ Styles and John Cena inside the Elimination Chamber en-route to defending the WWE Championship at WrestleMania against Randy Orton if the brass doesn't see something special in you. The point I am making is that Bray Wyatt is clearly highly thought of by WWE decision makers.
Bray Wyatt is a very unique character; perhaps one of the most unique in WWE history. And the man behind the character plays that character perfectly.
He is a megalomaniac cult leader who has kidnapped at least two superstars, beaten two others into submission until they joined his cult, and terrorized countless others. Yet, the WWE fans desperately want to cheer him due to his obvious charisma.
Bray Wyatt is the complete package. He has a unique look, can have good matches, absolutely owns his character, has oodles of charisma, and is excellent on the microphone.
He has lost his way this past year but has too much potential to squander. A Royal Rumble victory would be a fine way to set him back on track.
The Case Against Bray Wyatt Winning The 2019 Royal Rumble Match
It may be possible that Bray Wyatt is considered damaged goods by the WWE Universe. All too often he has flattered to deceive. Do you know how many WrestleMania matches he has won? None.
Do you know what happened when he kidnapped The Undertaker and Kane? They returned and defeated him. Do you know what happened when he forced Daniel Bryan to join the Wyatt family?
It lasted about two weeks before Bryan beat him inside a steel cage. It was even worse for him when he forced Randy Orton to join the Wyatt Family.
Randy Orton played the long con, destroyed the Wyatt Family from within, burned down Sister Abigail's resting place and defeated Wyatt for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34 to complete Wyatt's humilation and complete and utter defeat.
He spent last year feuding with, and then teaming up with Woken Matt Hardy, and lost the tag-team championships to The B Team of all teams.
The strongest case against Bray Wyatt winning this match is that the WWE brass may have already decided to squander his potential.
Who Would He Challenge At WrestleMania 35?
Bray Wyatt has obvious charisma and an obvious connection with the WWE Universe. They desperately want to cheer him. Remember the ovation when he finally won the WWE Championship?
So what if Bray Wyatt won the 2019 men's Royal Rumble match as a babyface? Fans will cheer both his return and his victory, all he has to do is encourage them. The Bray Wyatt character enjoys the cheers of the fans even when he is a heel; all it would take is a small character tweak.
There is only one man who a babyface Bray Wyatt should challenge. That man is the ultra annoying, super irritating, vegan toting, environmental nut, the WWE Champion; Daniel Bryan. Bryan berates the fans at every turn. Bray Wyatt could be presented as a man of the people who stands up for them.
We already know that these two have fantastic chemistry; their feud was proof of that. 5 years later, why not revisit it with the roles reversed?
The Verdict: Bray Wyatt is a serious dark horse contender.
