From The GFW Rumor Mill: GFW turning the Sexy Star/Rosemary incident into a storyline

What’s the Story?

Global Force Wrestling (GFW) has reportedly been developing a GFW vs AAA storyline for television in the upcoming months.

In case you didn’t know…

GFW and AAA have been involved in an ongoing talent exchange relationship resulting in talent from the companies being able to appear on each other’s shows.

This included AAA’s biggest event of the year, TripleMania XXV. During the event GFW’s Rosemary was involved in a fatal four-way match for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship against AAA’s Sexy Star, Ayako Hamada, and Lady Shani.

During the finish of the match, Sexy Star put Rosemary in a legitimate arm bar submission hold, injuring her shoulder.

Since then the incident has been the hot button issue in the wrestling world, with overwhelmingly negative sentiment towards Sexy Star.

The Heart of the Matter

Although Rosemary has continuously stated that incident was a shoot, GFW has released a “hype” video of the incident and will address the issue on this Thursday's episode of Impact.

Regarding the future GFW vs AAA storyline, GFW has stated that it will address the incident between Sexy Star and Rosemary. But that company has no immediate plans to involve the situation in the storyline or bring Sexy Star onto GFW television.

What’s next?

The GFW vs AAA storyline will play out on GFW television at some point in the future, featuring stars from both promotions.

Author’s take

The relationship between GFW and other promotions such as AAA and NOAH seems to be paying off for the company.

GFW being confident enough in the relationship with AAA to do a major overarching storyline is a good indicator that the incident at TripleMania had minimal impact on their relationship.

In recent professional wrestling history, some of the best and most memorable storylines are those with a basis in real life. However, GFW has seemingly made the right choice in not involving Sexy Star in the storyline, due to the fact that Sexy Star has not addressed the situation in any substantial way.

Until she comes out with the statement that contains a real apology and not phrases like “I’m really confused about the situation” or “It appears she was injured, I don’t know” look for her to continue to receive negative backlash, and rightfully so.
