What's the story?
It's official. GFW's biggest pay-per-view event of the year, Bound for Glory will take place on November 5th in Ottawa, Canada live from the historic Aberdeen Pavilion. It will feature superstars such as Eli Drake, Lashley, Gail Kim, Johnny Impact and the returning former champion, Alberto El Patron.
This announcement comes after much speculation with regard to the location of 'Bound for Glory', after the company teased The United Kingdom and India as other probable locations for the massive pay-per-view event. Thank you to Wrestlingnews.co, for the update.
In case you didn't know...
Bound for Glory has been an annual tradition since 2005, and there have been eleven successful editions of the pay-per-view thus far. One assumes that the pay-per-view is happening in Canada, as it is the home of Anthem, the parent company of GFW.
The card for the pay-per-view should unfold with the television show, over the coming weeks.
The heart of the matter
The official press release states the following, with regard to this edition of Bound for Glory and the following tapings:
The Aberdeen Pavilion will also play host to five days of IMPACT television tapings from Nov. 6 to Nov. 10. Ticket on-sale information for Bound for Glory and IMPACT will be revealed in the coming weeks.
“We are ecstatic and honored to bring our blockbuster event Bound for Glory to a Canadian venue rooted in cultural heritage and tradition,” said Ed Nordholm, president of IMPACT Wrestling. “Our loyal Canadian viewers on Fight Network and GameTV have been vocal supporters of IMPACT Wrestling over the years and we thought the nation’s capital would be a fitting place to stage our biggest event of the year. Canadian professional wrestling crowds have a reputation for their energy and enthusiasm, so we are excited to bring them an unforgettable night of action.”
It goes on to name the performers expected at the marquee event, and even discusses the historic significant of the Aberdeen Pavilion.
What's next?
The current round of tapings have concluded, so it should be interesting to witness the next round of tapings from Canada. It will be a welcome departure from the Impact Zone in Florida, and should bring about some much-needed freshness.
Author's take
Canadian fans are always loud and vocal. The performers should be enthused by the change in venue, and this will certainly reflect in their performances. GFW hit a home run with Slammiversary, and we hope they can keep up the momentum with Bound for Glory 2017!
