Goldberg, born on December 27, 1966, is an American professional wrestler, actor, and retired football player. Raised in a Reform Jewish family in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he grew up alongside his two brothers, Michael and Steve. His passion for football began at a young age, inspiring him to pursue the sport while attending Tulsa Edison High School.
Upon finishing high school, Goldberg attended the University of Georgia, where he played as a defensive tackle for the Georgia Bulldogs football team. His NFL career began on December 3, 1992, when he debuted for the Atlanta Falcons, wearing the #71 jersey. However, he abruptly retired from football after suffering a severe injury that tore his lower abdomen from his pelvis. This setback ended his time in football but ultimately paved the way for his successful transition into professional wrestling.
List of titles won by Goldberg
Goldberg's wrestling career took off in WCW, where he quickly established himself as a dominant force by winning the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. Soon after, he made the leap to the top by winning the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, which led him to relinquish the U.S. title. However, he later reclaimed the U.S. Championship and even teamed up with Bret Hart to win the WCW World Tag Team Championship. With these achievements, Goldberg solidified his legacy as the fifth Triple Crown winner in WCW history.
Following WCW's closure, Goldberg made his WWE debut in 2003, where he competed for a year and claimed the World Heavyweight Championship. More than a decade later, he made a stunning comeback in 2016, delivering an unforgettable performance by defeating Brock Lesnar in a mere 1 minute and 26 seconds at Survivor Series. During this period, he also became a two-time WWE Universal Champion and was honored with induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.
