Goldberg made his much-awaited return at WWE Bad Blood 2024 earlier this month. He recently disclosed that he would have his retirement match next year. Could this happen against another megastar who has already announced that 2025 would see the end of his wrestling career? This would be John Cena.
Goldberg was sitting in the audience, enjoying the Bad Blood Premium Live Event alongside his wife and son. Tension soon escalated after World Heavyweight Champion Gunther mocked the veteran, taking personal shots at him.
Following the insult, Goldberg jumped the barricade to confront The Ring General in the ring, face to face. However, before he could enter the squared circle, security personnel stopped him. In the closing moments of the segment, we saw Triple H inviting Da Man into the ring and raising his hand.
Recently, Goldberg confirmed that he is going to compete in his final match next year. The news has excited fans big time. Since the news broke out, fans have been suggesting multiple names who could face the WCW legend in his final match. An interesting name that could potentially face him is John Cena.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
John Cena himself announced earlier this year that 2025 is going to see the end of his in-ring career. In a shocking twist, the Stamford-based company could book a career vs. career match between these two legends, and fans might see an 'End of an Era' type of match between them.
Despite being two of the most popular stars in the business, Cena and the former WCW Champion have never met inside the squared circle. This potential bout could be one of the biggest feuds next year if it happens.
Gunther breaks his silence on his confrontation with Goldberg at Bad Blood 2024
Ahead of his match against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel 2024, Gunther had a fun interview with La Previa, where he was asked about his confrontation with Goldberg at the Atlanta show.
The Ring General revealed he was invited to speak about the Crown Jewel Championship that Triple H introduced during the show, and before that, he knew there were a lot of legends, some of whom he had the opportunity to meet. However, one of the few he did not meet was Goldberg. The WWE Heavyweight Champion revealed that after seeing Da Man, he thought of having some fun, which eventually triggered the WCW legend.
''He [Goldberg] doesn't seem able to take things lightly. I tried to lighten up the mood a little bit. If push comes to shove and he thinks he wants to get back into the business and wrestle again, then I'm happy to teach him a lesson!'' [H/T - POST Wrestling]
It will be interesting to see if and when the Stamford-based promotion has plans to officially book this much-awaited match between The Icon and The Austrian Anomaly.
