After being left off the card for WWE Bad Blood, Gunther will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Sami Zayn on RAW. The Ring General repeatedly denied Zayn a shot to challenge for the title but finally caved on last week's show.
Both men appeared at Bad Blood after Triple H unveiled the Crown Jewel Championship. The belt will be given to the Champ vs. Champ match winner at the event. Gunther then came out to claim he'd be winning the title.
He also insulted WWE Legend Goldberg, who was in attendance in Atlanta. Zayn then blindsided Gunther as security held back the former WCW Champion and current Champ.
Will the events of Bad Blood affect the outcome of the big title match? Here are three possible finishes for Sami Zayn vs. Gunther on RAW.
A female WWE star said her life is in danger. Details HERE
#3. Gunther can get help from his most trusted ally on RAW
Ludwig Kaiser has been a supporting actor in the recent feud between Sami Zayn and Gunther. The Champ has rejected every plea for a title shot, often sending Kaiser to deal with Zayn.
The former Intercontinental Champion defeated Kaiser in a match before Gunther finally accepted his challenge. The second in command actually had moments of doubt after he couldn't beat Zayn.
Kaiser may want revenge on Zayn for that feeling, so he could easily interfere to help preserve Gunther's reign. It wouldn't be the first time he would do so to help his superior.
#2. Goldberg can cost Gunther after their altercation at Bad Blood
While they did not get physical with each other, Gunther planted the seeds for a future match with Goldberg at Bad Blood. The legend always wanted a proper retirement match and could put over The Ring General when and if they ever face off.
Since Gunther mentioned Goldberg's son, he made things personal. Goldberg jumped the guardrails but was held back from demolishing the Champ. Could he get revenge by costing the arrogant title holder on RAW?
The WWE Hall of Famer could take out Ludwig Kaiser and hit Gunther with a Spear on RAW. He would get revenge on The Ring General for his harsh words at Bad Blood and set up a future showdown. In that case, it would also protect Gunther, as Zayn would win due to outside help.
#1. Gunther can avenge his WrestleMania 40 loss to Sami Zayn
One big reason why Gunther rejected Zayn's challenges is that he resents Zayn for beating him at WrestleMania 40. It was one of the few times Gunther has been pinned in WWE.
It also ended The Ring General's historic run of 666 days as Intercontinental Champion. Gunther only won the World Heavyweight title two months ago at SummerSlam. A quick swap so soon after his win would devalue the title.
Gunther has been heavily protected on the main roster, so it would go against years of booking if he lost to Zayn. The win would lift the stain of a big loss off of Gunther's record.
