Goldberg hasn't been seen in WWE since the Elimination Chamber back in February 2022, when he lost to then Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Even though there was some speculation that he could make his return to WWE for one final run, there has been no timeline for a comeback.

Goldberg revealed that he had told WWE to give him one final match before retirement, but no one from the company has apparently contacted him. Still, Triple H could contact the WWE legend and eventually offer him the retirement match he requested.

Should this happen, we could see the former champion make a return to WWE and issue an open challenge for one final match, no matter if that will be on RAW, SmackDown, or a premium live event.

It could help elevate a young superstar

It is not uncommon for WWE to have veteran wrestlers start a feud with younger superstars to help the latter build some momentum and get a push.

On that occasion, we could see a plethora of young stars step up and challenge Goldberg, including Carmelo Hayes (SmackDown), Ilja Dragunov (RAW), and the new Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker (RAW). The young star's stock would surely rise if he is able to beat the two-time WWE Universal Champion in his last match and retire him.

It could lead to the return of a former world champion

If the former world champion issues an open challenge for his retirement match, fans could even see Brock Lesnar eventually make his return after a year out and step up against the WWE legend.

The two megastars have feuded during the former's last stints with WWE, thus one final match between the two will end the rivalry once and for all and will make Lesnar's comeback to WWE smoother.

John Cena could step up as his opponent

Goldberg will not be the only WWE star who could have a retirement match soon. John Cena has announced a farewell tour next year and he will retire in December 2025.

Cena is expected to make regular appearances on both brands and compete in all premium live events, meaning that he could show up and confront the fellow WWE legend, revealing that Goldberg's final match will be against him. The two megastars have never faced each other one-on-one and it would be a treat for the fans if it happens one time before their retirement.
