WrestleMania has long had a tradition of keeping the best matches of the year in the bank till the grandest stage, but there can only be a limited number of performers who get to be on the main card each year.
Due to this, WWE has often used a multi-person match stipulation to ensure more wrestlers are able to perform, with the triple threat match being a go-to idea. Although harder to pull off than a standard single match, it can provide thrills and spills to entertain the WWE Universe, with some repeat performers here on this list.
#4 Daniel Bryan vs Randy Orton vs Batista: WrestleMania XXX
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
This match is steeped in emotion and sentiment due to the preceding storyline leading up to the event in New Orleans. Bryan had been held back by the company, beaten by the Authority and denied his chance at the gold. Fans got behind him and soon elevated the cause to now mythic proportions with the 'Yes Movement'.
After beating HHH in the opening match and suffering a post-match beating from the "King of Kings", Bryan would go on to face the WWE Champion Randy Orton and Royal Rumble winner Batista in the main event.
With announcer tables destroyed and a seemingly impossible task for Daniel intensified by an attacking Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, the odds seemed too great for the underdog who was wheeled away on a stretcher.
His courage and heart showed through however and he re-entered the match just as Batista and Orton were drawing the match to a close. A running knee and a Yes lock to Batista ensured the WWE Universe would remember that moment for years to come.
#3 Chris Benoit vs Triple H vs Shawn Michaels: WrestleMania XX
Although the legacy of Chris Benoit has forever been tainted, it is without argument that he was one of the greatest in-ring performers in history. Put him in a match with arguably the greatest of all time, Shawn Michaels, and the veteran Triple H, and you clearly have a recipe for success.
With Benoit performing as the undersized underdog, HHH as the heel champion and a first WrestleMania appearance since 1998 for 'Mr. WrestleMania' Michaels, the match gave us three men who gave it their all, with D-Generation X reunions and then break-ups, before a 'Crippler Crossface' from Benoit to The Game that ended the match.
The lasting memory of the match is Benoit celebrating in the ring with his best friend Eddie Guerrero, confetti raining down from the ceiling. The undersized wrestler could win the big prize and what could have been a stellar career for Chris obviously was cut short by events later on in his life.
#2 Edge & Christian vs The Dudley Boyz vs The Hardy Boyz - Triangle Tag Ladder Match: WrestleMania 2000
The pre-cursors to the TLC match were the ladder match at No Mercy 1999 with the Hardy Boyz vs Edge & Christian, and then the tag tables match at Royal Rumble 2000 between the Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz.
Putting these three teams together at WrestleMania and incorporating both the ladder and the table gave a recipe for destruction. All three teams beat the hell out of each other for the fans enjoyment, with all the moves they were used to seeing being performed from ladders through tables.
Edge & Christian would ultimately win their first tag-team championship by creating a table platform at the top of two ladders. However, all three teams would emerge winners from the match in terms of the bigger picture, pushing their status in the company and setting themselves up for even bigger matches in the future.
#1 Edge & Christian vs Hardy Boyz vs Dudley Boyz - TLC II: WrestleMania X-Seven
WrestleMania X-Seven at the Houston Astrodome has long been badged as the greatest WrestleMania, and this second edition of the TLC match between the three teams is arguably the best tag match and triple threat stipulation in WrestleMania history.
With the inclusion of Lita, Spike Dudley, and Rhyno to aid each of the three teams, the result was all members of the match becoming incapacitated bar Christian, who took a lift on Rhyno's shoulders to grab the tag team titles.
The iconic mid-air spear by Edge to Jeff Hardy and the stack of tables that is destroyed by a flying Bubba Ray and Matt Hardy are all etched into the minds of wrestling fans and provided the excitement that had never been seen before.
