Gunther has a big month ahead of him as he prepares for SummerSlam 2024. Having won the King of the Ring tournament, he now has a chance to take on Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, the question remains: Win or lose, what's next for The Ring General? Well, a feud with a former Universal Champion may be on the horizon.
The former Universal Champion in question just so happens to be the inaugural champion, Finn Balor. Outside of the fact that both Balor and Priest are in the same faction, The Judgment Day, there are a few reasons why this feud can happen. The primary one is that Balor is a huge fan of Gunther, going so far as to claim he is always interested to see what he does in the ring.
Speaking on the What's the Story? Podcast, Finn Balor revealed that there isn't much that intrigues him anymore in wrestling. Having watched the product for nearly 35 years, he admits that while he hasn't seen it all, he has seen a lot of what goes down in the squared circle. However, admitted that every time Gunther performs, he wants to see everything he does.
"I’m 43 now so it’s like watching wrestling for 35 years so it’s rare that I go “ah I’m interested in this” but when WALTER gets in the ring, I’m interested. I want to see everything that he does.” said Finn Balor.

Given his appreciation for The Ring General's work, there is a chance that Balor would love to trade blows with him. With that in mind, one can easily see him interfering with the match at SummerSlam, perfectly setting up the feud. But, this is just conjecture, and there is no telling how things will unfold.
Finn Balor isn't the only superstar who wants a piece of Gunther
Finn Balor isn't the only superstar who has a deep appreciation for Gunther's work. Over the years, several active superstars and legends alike have commended him for his incredible work ethic and skill in the ring. In fact, one up-and-coming NXT superstar has expressed interest in sharing the ring with The Ring General.
NXT North American Champion Oba Femi recently showered the Austrian with praise in an appearance on The A Show. Speaking about superstars who stand apart, the 26-year-old singled out Ilja Dragunov and the man who holds the record as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history.
Oba Femi stated that he appreciates wrestlers who make simple things look good. And, seeing as he identifies as a superstar with similar qualities, he would love to go head-to-head with either one of them. Who knows? If his star power continues to rise at the rate it currently is, he may just get his wish sometime in the near future.
