Gunther is preparing for his rematch with Damian Priest at Survivor Series, where the World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line. At the same time, he may have revealed his next opponent in the returning CM Punk.

The Best in the World has been on a hiatus for six weeks after surviving a brutal Hell in a Cell Match at Bad Blood in early October, ending his eight-month rivalry with Drew McIntyre.

Gunther teased a CM Punk return in a backstage RAW segment

Charlotte Flair to return and wrestle a CURRENT CHAMPION?

During the November 18 episode of RAW, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion had a backstage segment with fellow Imperium member Ludwig Kaiser, where he teased Punk's return.

"Look into my eyes, what do you see?" the reigning World Heavyweight Champion told Kaiser, using lyrics from the Best in the World's theme song "Cult of Personality."

Despite teasing Punk's return, this might not happen in the next couple of weeks, as the Ring General has his sight set on Damian Priest and their rematch from SummerSlam.

During his rivalry with Drew McIntyre, CM Punk made his intentions clear on his next target once his feud with the Scottish Warrior ended.

The Best in the World took a shot at the Ring General, saying that he was coming after him once he was done with Drew McIntyre, aiming to claim his first World Championship since coming back to WWE a year ago.

A Gunther/CM Punk title match will open the way for the next storylines

After teasing Punk's return, Gunther has hinted at the latter being his next opponent, either at Saturday Night's Main Event (December 14) or the RAW premiere on Netflix (January 6).

A title match between the two megastars will open the way for the next storylines. More specifically, Goldberg could show up and cost the Ring General the victory, setting the stage for a match at the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania 41. This would be Goldberg's retirement match.

Punk will re-ignite his rivalry with Seth Rollins, and the Best in the World's becoming a four-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion will add more hype to the feud.
