Gunther has been out of WWE since he challenged the current World Heavyweight Champion, Damian Priest, to a match at SummerSlam. As the new King of the Ring, the former Intercontinental Champion has a guaranteed title match for August's Premium Live Event.
Gunther has not been seen on TV since then, but as we are getting closer to Money in the Bank and SummerSlam, he should return and confront not only the reigning champion but the new No.1 contender, Seth Rollins.
The Visionary, who has accomplished everything in his career and is considered a WWE legend, returned to the company on the latest edition of RAW after taking time off to recover from injuries. Seth Rollins was out since WrestleMania 40, but he is now ready to take his title back.
With that in mind, let's take a look at why Gunther has to return to RAW and defeat The Architect.
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
Gunther has to make a statement ahead of his title match at SummerSlam
Gunther has his sights set on becoming a World Champion for the first time since moving to the main roster. The King General has already started a feud with Damian Priest, which is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
At the same time, he needs to prove that he can defeat anybody on the roster, no matter how great they are. Thus, coming back and defeating Seth Rollins on RAW would help him make a statement.
It would help start a feud with Seth Rollins
As we said, Seth Rollins has not many things left to accomplish in WWE, so starting a feud with the new King of the Ring would make sense. Both are considered title contenders, and whoever wins their match will gain momentum for the title match with the leader of The Judgment Day.
In addition, it would help create a new storyline, which could be extended through the coming months and after SummerSlam. The fact that Rollins is a babyface and the King General a heel makes things easier for the creative team.
It could lead to a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam
Gunther will fight for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, but his opponent might not be only Damian Priest or Seth Rollins. In fact, he could face both in a Triple Threat Match.
This is a likely scenario should he start a feud with Rollins, who will look for another title chance if he loses to Priest. On the other hand, if the leader of The Judgment Day loses his title, he will look to re-claim it right away, so a Triple Threat Match would make sense here.
And WWE could set the tone for that if they bring Gunther back and have him defeat Seth Rollins on RAW this Monday.
