Gunther was able to come out on top last night at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames in a match that many believed he wouldn't win. It was thanks to the interference from Finn Balor that he was able to retain his World Heavyweight Championship and that could lead to him rewarding the Irish star.
While Gunther did attack Balor for involving himself in his match in the heat of the moment, he could have a change of heart when he realizes that this is the second time Balor has helped him defeat Priest. The two men could make a good team.
Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser seemingly have a deal to go their own way at the moment since Kaiser wasn't there to help The Ring General last night. Gunther could instead recruit Finn Balor to join him, leading to the Judgment Day's demise.
Balor has noted for several weeks that things work in Judgment Day when he is listened to, but he doesn't seem to be garnering the respect he feels he deserves as the leader.
The stable attacked Damian Priest following last night's show and Balor knows that if The Street King comes back after him on RAW, he is going to need backup, and someone like Gunther in his corner could be better than JD McDonagh and Carlito.
Finn Balor is currently one-half of the WWE World Tag Team Champions
Finn Balor and JD McDonagh are the WWE World Tag Team Champions, but failed to defend their titles at Survivor Series and have hardly defended them since winning them back in June.
It's clear that Balor has his sights set on other things so if he was to lose the WWE World Tag Team Championship in the coming weeks, that could be the catalyst to move him over to another group since it's clear that The Judgment Day is no longer the team it once was.
Balor is the only remaining member of the original group and will be aware of all the changes that have been made over the past year, something that has changed the group's identity altogether.
