Gunther is an Austrian professional wrestler. His real name is Walter Hahn and was born on August 20, 1987, in Vienna, Austria. A huge pro-wrestling fan since a young age, Gunther also played Football during his younger days as a goalkeeper. Eventually, he left football and made his professional wrestling debut in 2005 as Big Van Walter, the name he used for around nine years. He then went on to wrestle on the independent circuit of Japan and America, making a name for himself as one of the most feared indie wrestlers.
Eventually, his talent caught the eyes of WWE. In January 2019, he made his debut at NXT UK and soon won the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Walter then started wrestling for NXT UK and went on to hold the title for a record 870 days. He was then renamed Gunther and called up to the main roster, where he won the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He held the title for a record 666 days before losing it at WrestleMania XL. In 2024, Gunther also won the WWE King of the Ring.

What finisher does Gunther use?
Gunther mainly uses the Knife Edge Chop, or simply The Chop, as his finishing move. While the move is simply a slap to the chest of the opponent, it is still one of the most feared moves in WWE at the moment. The raw power of Gunther, his dominating presence, and the speed at which he charges his chop toward the opponent all combined are enough to put even the mightiest of the wrestlers to rest.
His other finisher, signature, and trademark moves include the Symphonie des Schmerzes. It involves Gunther lifting his opponent onto his shoulders and then falling forward, driving them back into the mat in a powerful folding powerbomb position. The German name translates to "Symphony of Pain," and it certainly lives up to the billing. Another move from Gunther’s arsenal is the Beheading, which is a burning lariat. Here, Gunther runs towards his opponent and whips his arm around delivering a powerful blow to the opponent's head or neck. The former Intercontinental Champion uses the Gojira Clutch as a submission maneuver. This move can be applied in two ways. As the Soldier's Rest, it's a standing rear naked choke. In the Gojira Clutch variation, Gunther transitions from a standing position into a kneeling position, squeezing the choke even tighter.

Gunther uses the “Prepare to Fight” theme song by Def Rebel as his theme song. He first used the theme song in June 2022 after being promoted to the WWE main roster. The theme is very powerful and suits the dominance of the Ring General. Before this, Gunther was mainly known for using the Symphony No. 9 theme song, which was composed by Antonín Dvořák.
