WWE will have a big night next week, as NXT will be changing networks. While Friday Night SmackDown made the USA Network its home, NXT said goodbye to the same cable station last night.
Instead of remaining on the USA Network, which has been NXT's home for the past five years, the white-and-gold show will now air on The CW.
Naturally, World Wrestling Entertainment, Shawn Michaels, and Ava have stacked up next week's program to attract as many eyeballs on the show as possible. This includes appearances from main roster stars, including The Miz and CM Punk. That said, there could be others who appear too.
This article will take a look at four main roster stars who could potentially appear on NXT's premiere on The CW. This includes one of CM Punk's rivals, an injured performer, and a Hall of Famer who might help introduce a recent signee to the crowd in attendance.
#4 Drew McIntyre could show up and attack CM Punk
Drew McIntyre is a force to be reckoned with in WWE. He is one of the biggest and strongest superstars in the entire company, yet he's also fairly agile and can be explosive in the ring. The formula has been a success, as he's a multi-time world champion.
The Scottish Psychopath has been involved in a heated feud with CM Punk. The two have been fighting almost non-stop and will soon set foot inside Hell in a Cell to likely blow off their rivalry once and for all.
CM Punk will be on NXT next week, both as a host and special guest referee, which means there is a very real chance that Drew could crash the show and once again attack his WWE rival. The two brawling could lead to Ethan Page and Trick Williams fighting without a referee, which would be quite interesting.
#3 Jey Uso could defend his WWE Intercontinental Title
Jey Uso is an absurdly popular WWE Superstar and veteran of the ring. He rose to prominence in wrestling alongside his twin, Jimmy. However, he reached new heights as a member of The Bloodline before going solo last year.
Main Event Jey Uso had a big night on WWE Monday Night RAW. Living up to his nickname, he was involved in the main event alongside Bron Breakker. The two clashed with the Intercontinental Title on the line, and Jey shockingly won the gold.
Now that Uso has his first singles title under his belt, he could come to NXT next week to show it off. It'd be even more interesting if he defended the gold. An open challenge against someone such as Charlie Dempsey could be quite fun.
#2 Asuka could show support for Giulia
Asuka is a legendary female superstar. Before joining WWE, she had a lot of success in Japan. Since moving to the United States, she has won the top titles available to her on RAW, SmackDown, and NXT.
Unfortunately, The Empress is currently injured. The multi-time world champion hasn't been able to compete since earlier this year, but there is hope she will return to action in WWE sooner rather than later.
Regardless of when she returns to the ring, she could appear on NXT next week. Asuka, a Japanese sensation in her own right, could be shown giving Giulia advice ahead of a major NXT Women's Championship match against Roxanne Perez. This could also plant the seeds for a future spot in Damage CTRL.
#1 Rey Mysterio could introduce Stephanie Vaquer
Rey Mysterio is a legend in WWE and outside of it. He has been involved in wrestling for well over 30 years now and has influenced an entire generation of superstars. He is an icon and a Hall of Famer.
Stephanie Vaquer is a long-time fan of the Latino World Order star. Stories are going around that she idolized the legendary former WWE Champion and even had pictures of herself with Rey when she was a young fan.
As a result, Rey could show up on NXT alongside Stephanie. He could properly introduce the new NXT star to fans and those in the back, as she has yet to actually appear on the company's programming in person. With Rey's stamp of approval, Vaquer will become a major star in World Wrestling Entertainment.
