A 2-on-1 Handicap Elimination Match between Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman taking on CM Punk was announced by WWE’s wiliest manager yet, Heyman himself.
Heyman took centre stage on SmackDown with yet another one of his outstanding promos, as he promised to ‘own’ Punk at Night of Champions.
The feud between the two was inevitable at some point or another as they have been trading blows for the last couple of weeks on RAW.
Besides this, with Brock Lesnar out of the picture, the WWE are keen on continuing to push Axel up the ranks and what better opportunity than to pair him with a former champion?
With the inclusion of Punk’s match at Night of Champions, three matches have now been confirmed.
Randy Orton (C) vs. Daniel Bryan - WWE Championship
Alberto Del Rio (C) vs. Rob Van Dam- World Heavyweight Championship
CM Punk vs. Curtis Axel and Paul Heyman - Handicap Elimination Match
