Joe Hendry is one of the most recent TNA stars to have appeared in NXT as part of the partnership between the two companies. But this wasn't the first time he appeared in WWE.
The June 18, 2024, episode of NXT featured a Battle Royal for the men's division to determine the number one contender to the NXT Championship. Among the wrestlers who appeared was TNA star Joe Hendry, who received a strong ovation from the crowd. However, he didn't spend a lot of time in the match as all the participants immediately eliminated him. Although his debut on the Tuesday show was short, it was still better than his first couple of appearances in WWE.
Joe Hendry has appeared in the Stamford-based promotion two times before his recent NXT outing. The first one was part of Adam Rose's Rosebud during the May 19, 2014, episode of RAW, which took place in London, England. His second appearance was on the November 10, 2014, episode of the red show where he played the part of a Russian diplomat in a segment with Rusev.
Seeing the Scottish wrestler play the role of an extra in WWE is certainly interesting, especially after seeing several well-known stars do the same in the past. Top names like Becky Lynch, Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, Zelina Vega, and more were first seen as Rosebuds before becoming top superstars.
On the other hand, stars like Johnny Gargano, Sheamus, Damian Priest, LA Knight, Shawn Spears, and more have made cameos as security guards, police officers, and other backstage personalities.
Will Joe Hendry be back in WWE?
The 36-year-old's time in the Stamford-based promotion may all have been short, but his latest appearance proved that fans want to see more of him. After being eliminated, he hinted about returning to other brands of the company.
A social media video showed that Hendry threw a tantrum backstage after being eliminated from the Battle Royal and even confronted Shawn Michaels. Joe added that he could always show up anytime, anywhere, and on any show.
"Oh, and if it isn't Shawn Michaels. Was that your idea out there? 24 men against me. Joe Hendry vs. NXT. Well, you know what, Shawn, I can show up anywhere, anytime, on any show. All you gotta do is say this name,"
It would be interesting to see where Joe Hendry appears next and what's in store for his future with WWE.
