Has WWE already fumbled with new Speed program? Exploring the prospect

WWE Speed is the latest addition to the list of shows from the Stamford-based promotion, which premiered on April 3, 2024. This unique concept came along with the inclusion of a brand new Speed Championship, which was won by Ricochet via a tournament, However, the championship has already changed hands, with Andrade currently holding the title.

However, it seems WWE might have fumbled with their latest program, as fan reception has been rather lukewarm, with some even mocking the Speed Championship. Many fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment, comparing the Speed Championship unfavorably to the defunct 24/7 Championship.

This comparison stems from the perceived lack of importance and presence of the Speed Championship within the main roster. The title appears to be restricted to internet-based content, primarily airing on WWE's official X/Twitter, rather than being prominently featured on television like other championships. This has led to fans dismissing the Speed Championship as somewhat inconsequential in the larger picture.

Further compounding the issue is the seeming disconnect between the Speed Championship and ongoing storylines on television. Recent developments are also a great example of the same as WWE has just announced that Ricochet, who was injured by Bron Breakker in a storyline on WWE RAW, would defend his Speed Championship against Andrade.

This statement came just hours after World Wrestling Entertainment stated Ricochet was injured, leading to bafflement among the fans and further diminishing the title's credibility.

Moreover, with Ricochet reportedly set to leave WWE, the injury angle on RAW was intended to write him off television, yet he is still scheduled for a match for the Speed Championship, adding to the inconsistency.

Triple H can still improve the WWE Speed concept

Certainly, some fans currently perceive the Speed concept as less valuable, but the company still has the opportunity to elevate it by featuring the Speed Championship more prominently on television.

Triple H can book Speed title defenses on either RAW or SmackDown, similar to open challenges, which would attract fans and deliver great matches, considering the names involved. This strategy could also boost viewership on social media platforms like X/Twitter, as fans would be eager to see the high-paced matches and title defenses after watching the same on the main shows.

Moreover, The Game could also elevate the Speed Championship by positioning it as another mid-card title, with the unique element of having time limits in its matches. Incorporating the Speed Title into various storylines would be an excellent way to improve the concept and keep it engaging for the audience.
