Opinion: Has WWE ruined Braun Strowman?

Just about a year ago, Braun Strowman was one of the hottest stars in the WWE. The Monster Among Men won a tag team battle royale all by himself and would feud with The Bar for the RAW Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 35, which he would win with a 9-year old kid, Nicholas.

Many believed that Strowman would be the next big thing in the company especially after the mega push he was being given over the past few years. The Monster's feud with Roman Reigns in 2017 saw him rise to superstardom and the overpouring fan support forced WWE to turn the Monster face later that year.

While Strowman was wreaking havoc on Monday Nights and enthralling fans with amazing feats of strength, the company never looked at Strowman as their top guy. This was made evidently clearly after Roman Reign's departure last October. Fans thought Strowman would win the Universal Champion from Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel but Strowman went on to lose the match in decisive fashion.

But, the burial of Strowman didn't just stop there. The Monster was then unceremoniously removed from the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble. Things have only gotten worse for Strowman as he now finds himself without a scheduled match at The Grandest Stage and most likely be part of a backstage skit with the SNL guys that he has been feuding with. If this doesn't indicate a fall from grace for The Monster, we don't what else does.

Fans always doubted whether or not Strowman would succeed in the company given the current wrestling landscape. WWE, on its part, handled Strowman very well during his initial run and despite a few hiccups here and there, they were able to present Strowman as an unbeatable Monster. But, the recent spate of losses and the creative lull that he has gone through indicates that the company has lost their faith in the Monster.

Strowman's passive push has seen fans losing interest in him as a character. The roaring, thunderous cheers have been replaced by lukewarm, uninspiring crowd response. Strowman, on his part, has been an absolute professional and has tried to work around everything that is being thrown at him to the best of his abilities. It's just that his antics have become repetitive and the lack of any creative direction has made his character quite bland.

This is really sad considering how incredibly talented Strowman is and how greatly he has improved his game. For now, it seems like that The Monster Among Men is just another face on the red brand and it seems highly unlikely that he will ever get to be cream of the crop in the WWE.
