CM Punk walking out on the WWE was arguably one of the most shocking things to have happened in the PG Era.
Along with leaving a big void in the roster, Punk also left the fans and writers in dismay right in between their preparations for WrestleMania. For someone outside the wrestling fan base it would certainly seem like an act of betrayal or unprofessionalism but for the ones inside, it’s just part of everyday routine.
Wrestling fans have seen very infamous walk outs and arguments throughout the promotion’s rich history and Punk’s departure only adds as the latest one to that list.

But the fact with these sort of incidents is that, there is always that feeling inside everyone that whoever left the company will return sooner or later.
I mean, even after Vince McMahon screwed him legitimately, Bret Hart returned to WWE although it took him almost a decade to do so. And in the case of Punk, things aren’t that bad are they?
With that said, since Punk is gone now, the question which lurks in everyone’s mind will be: when will Punk return?.
It actually someone which solely depends on his will and the path he chooses but if he does decide to get back in the squared circle soon, the company needs to be very careful on when they make his big return.
The reason for being cautious is none other than the hottest property in the company at the moment: Daniel Bryan.
Bryan is someone who reaped the best benefits from the departure of Punk and he is simply riding high on momentum because of that.
However inserting Punk back into the scene before WrestleMania or at WrestleMania will take the sting of Bryan and his yes movement as Punk’s big return will clearly overshadow whatever Bryan did till now. He will no longer be the biggest name in WrestleMania as well with the return of Punk.
This will be an unfair move as far as Bryan is concerned because for whatever he did through the year, he deserves a shining moment in WrestleMania.
So when can Punk return then? Well any time after Bryan had his big moment and established himself as the top star would be good.
Then again the best time that WWE could bring back Punk will be at SummerSlam.
There are many reasons for Summer Slam being the ideal stage. From the basics, it is the next biggest pay-per-view after WrestleMania.
But above that it will be the time when Daniel Bryan will be burned out after feuding with Batista or Orton over the title which he might’ve won or lost at WrestleMania.
And when Bryan finally triumphs and win the title at Summer Slam, the WWE could bring back Punk to ruin the celebrations and make him the next No. 1 contender for the title. A heel return from Punk will be something that no one would expect and the bigger stage provides with a bigger impact.
At the same time, Bryan’s character and Yes movement will find a renewed life with the help of Punk’s brilliance as a heel.
The chemistry that these two have is also well known from their Ring Of Honor days itself and Punk and Bryan could easily give epic matches throughout the summer to the winter. With two dynamic and intense performers in the ring, fans wouldn’t we bored as well like John Cena- Randy Orton feud making this one work beyond expectations.
Even if it starts to show signs of staleness the company could always add in some extra muscle in the form of Cena, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro or Roman Reigns to make sure it keeps burning.
So the best way to bring back Punk will be as a heel and that too when Bryan starts to loose his sting as the top babyface in the company.
Then again, you never know what Punk is thinking; he could just jump into UFC and spend his entire career there. But it’s these sort of hopes that drives a wrestling fan forward and which makes us different from others.
