How does Los Matadores arrival affect the tag team division?

Los Matadores

Los Matadores is the newest tag team to make its way into the WWE, even though the ones in this gimmick are not new in themselves.

Primo and Epico have been repackaged just like Bray Wyatt was from Husky Harris and Curtis Axel from Michael..ummm..M. This new tag team has El Torito dressed as a bull, and all this combines to this new tag team having quite an entrance. But is that enough?

Brodus Clay was shockingly transformed to be Funkasaurus and his entrance, even though it was fun, wore out pretty soon. It was long and maybe just the kids enjoyed it. It was a modern day rendition of Too Cool and Rikishi.

Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.

Fandango on the other hand had one song direct the direction of his career. That hasn’t been consistent, but Fandango still has that arrogance intact which can make him a great heel and as far as fictional characters go. He sure is completely a work of fiction with the combination of a ballroom dancer and a wrestler.

Los Matadores had a bunch of promos feature before and build up to their return but so far they have not shown much intensity apart from being amusing. El Torito plays his part well, but the teams finishers do not sell well.

It is quite clear that when on Monday, on the commentary, Michael Cole said that Zeb Colter tweeted something about this team that it was going to be built into a program with the real Americans as the Matadores are a classic case of immigrants from foreign soil. Cesaro’s inclusion in the team is still a mystery to me, but Cesaro and Swagger work well as a team, and they’ve been quite spectacular the past few weeks because of Cesaro’s Giant Swing.

A program with Real Americans may be well and good for the Los Matadores and the tag team division in general, given that The Shield are still going strong, The Wyatt family are still creeping everyone out and trying to add to their buzzard collection and now this program with The real Americans and the newest tag team only adds more flavor to an already fledging division.

But usually it is best to say,”Wait and Watch” to all the new additions to the main roster. After all, Ryback’s been enjoying that privilege for the past year now. But in the Matadores’ case, it does not seem like they actually are doing much apart from their entrance. Their matches have so far been nothing spectacular, and as we know a thing or two about entrances, they wear down pretty quickly, unless of course you’re the Undertaker.

And with teams like the Primetime Players and Usos having been so exciting to watch in the past few weeks, it’s hard to tell if Matadores match up to that. And talking about entrances, the Usos have quite the entrance. Quite cool, actually. And the Primetime Players have their whistle, and the Money Dance that they do.

With Matadores, WWE is just trying to give people a purpose of chanting ‘ole’- a chant heard around the world on RAW after Wrestlemania 29.

Here’s hoping that I am proven wrong.
