Under the reign of Triple H, WWE has done plenty to elevate its product. While the company has implemented great storylines and signed decent superstars, recently they announced a partnership that led to quite the excitement among wrestling fans.
On Monday, April 22, WWE announced that in partnership with the UFC, they would be emanating NXT Battleground Premium Live Event from UFC Apex in Las Vegas. This development has been met with many positive reactions from fans of both promotions. Triple H also made a public comment about the same.
Following the announcement of the upcoming NXT premium live event, The Game took to X and mentioned that UFC Apex has been part of so many great events. He also thanked Dana White and the Ultimate Fighting Championship for their partnership and help in bringing NXT Battleground to UFC Apex.
"The state-of-the-art UFC Apex has been home to so many incredible events… and for the first time, on June 9, @WWE becomes part of that. Huge thanks to @ufc and @danawhite for their partnership in bringing #NXTBattleground to Vegas," he wrote.
NXT Battleground is set to take place on 9 June 2024. While the event still has plenty of time left, given this partnership, one can only imagine that the Stamford-based promotions will have some of their best talents on display.
Wrestling journalist says Triple H blew it by not signing popular wrestling star
Since taking over as creative head of WWE, Triple H has made some fabulous decisions. While he implemented some great storylines to better the product, he also made some very good signings. However, the one superstar Hunter failed to sign was Will Ospreay.
Despite reportedly making contact, the two parties failed to make a deal, and Ospreay signed with AEW. While WWE has certainly moved on since then, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer believes Hunter blew it up by not signing Will Ospreay. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said:
''Those Triple H comments, they aged like milk. Like stale milk. There's no way you can watch this guy, and with any kind of a straight face, go like, 'Oh, he's not good enough for us. His attitude isn't good enough!' You [Triple H] blew it. You didn't make him the better offer, and that's that."
Like Meltzer, several people wished that they would see Will Ospreay in WWE. Unfortunately, it couldn't happen. However, in another development, Ospreay and The Game have seemingly engaged in a war of words. It will be interesting to see how this plays out between the two.
