Impact Wrestling News: Two former World Champions return to Impact Wrestling (spoilers)

Big ba
Will these returns help the promotion?

What’s the story?

Former WCW Champion Scott Steiner and former ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer both returned to Impact Wrestling during the tapings filmed on Monday in Ottawa.

Eli Drake had previously won the Feast or Fired Tag Team Championship shot briefcase and announced that Steiner would be his partner for the match that would be taking place at Impact's next pay-per-view, Redemption, on April 22.

In case you didn’t know…

Tommy Dreamer has been working on and off for Impact Wrestling as a producer and agent since 2010, including these current tapings.

Scott Steiner last worked for Impact Wrestling last year returning as Josh Matthews's partner for a tag team match with Jeremy Borash and Joseph Parks at Slammiversary last July. Scott was only working a short term deal only until Slammiversary and left after the event. Scott Steiner once told WWE in a magazine interview that he would likely retire from wrestling in 2005, and here we are with Steiner returning to Impact Wrestling at the beginning of 2018.

The heart of the matter

Tommy Dreamer returned by saving Moose and Eddie Edwards from a beat down attempt from oVe and Sami Callihan. A 6 man 'House of Hardcore' match pitting oVe and Sami Callihan vs Dreamer, Moose and Edwards was announced for Redemption.

Dreamer makes the save

While Tommy Dreamer may be 46 and Scott Steiner 55, both men are still years away from walking away from the wrestling business. If it helps them and helps Impact Wrestling then I don't see the harm in either man returning to Impact TV for a little while, if not anything else, to at least help elevate some young talent.

What’s next?

The episode featuring the returns of Steiner and Dreamer likely won't air on TV until early April. Tommy will likely disapear from TV following Redemption but it is possible that Scott Steiner may stick around a little while longer.

Author’s take

Tommy Dreamer is all about giving, he is one of the most selfless wrestlers in the world today, always in favor other putting others over on whatever show he performs on, so it will be great to see him do so with these young kids in Impact. Scott Steiner is just plain fun to have around all the time on TV. The genetic freak provides countless comedic moments and I hope to see more from him on Impact.
