Mickie James is a former six-time Women's Champion and was one of the most popular female wrestlers in WWE at one time. That being said, Mickie James was released from WWE back in 2010 and didn't make her return until 2016, when she was defeated by Asuka back at NXT Takeover: Toronto.
In the months that followed, a masked star started to appear on SmackDown and helped Alexa Bliss throughout her Women's Championship reign. This masked star had issues with some of the women on the roster and was then put into a match and revealed to be Alexa Bliss herself.

It wasn't until January 2017 when Bliss faced Becky Lynch in a steel cage that La Lauchadora once again appeared, and this time when she took off her mask it was revealed to be Mickie James.
The women's wrestling legend has been brought back by Alexa Bliss to help her on SmackDown, which was a story that didn't last long since the two women went on to feud the following year.
