Is Cody Rhodes injured? The truth revealed after a scary spot on WWE SmackDown 

Reigning Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes survived a major injury scare on the recent edition of SmackDown. The American Nightmare opened this week's episode of the blue brand, as he and AJ Styles signed on the dotted line to make their showdown at Backlash France 2024 official.

However, Rhodes' wasn't done for the night. The 38-year-old locked horns with former NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes in the main event. While he successfully disposed of Melo, the Undisputed WWE Champion left fans worried when he awkwardly landed on his shoulder after a botched springboard Cody Cutter.

Cody shared a tweet on X, where he uploaded videos of tiny fans singing the lyrics of his song, Kingdom. The American Nightmare admired the energy showcased by fans in Cincinnati on April 26, 2024, as they welcomed him to the ring.

Several fans, however, posted comments on the tweet, asking about his shoulder injury.

“So that shoulder is good, right?” asked a fan.

Although the former RAW Superstar didn’t reply with any definite answer to fans, he did like this comment, suggesting that his shoulder is fine.

It will be interesting to see how Cody fares in his maiden title defense against The Phenomenal One next weekend.

Now that he is the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes needs credible opponents to elevate his title reign. WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently touched upon this during an edition of Busted Open.

“Cody Rhodes needs his Mr. T to show up. Yes, Cody’s got a lot of goodwill, but they’re not going to be getting the same level of story or intensity that they got with Roman and The Rock. So it’s going to be very easy for Cody to fall into these ten fights like Rocky Balboa had—yeah, you’re the number one contender, big deal. Nobody poses a credible threat. I want to know who’s Cody’s legitimate, credible threat. As a matter of fact, I would’ve liked to have seen him in the ring with that legitimate, credible threat already. I don’t like this little bit of a lull. I think Cody Rhodes is cooling a bit,” said Bully Ray.

It is no secret that AJ Styles is in the twilight of his legendary career. Thus, many can see that the chances of him defeating Cody aren’t strong. Hence, The American Nightmare is yet to find an opponent who can truly stand a chance to dethrone him after finishing his story.
