Weeks ago, after Bryan lost the Elimination Chamber match, everybody thought that the “Flying Goat” is out of the main event match at WrestleMania XXX and that he would face Triple H instead, after he confronted him and Stephanie in the parking lot. But, after what transpired this week on Raw and SmackDown, Daniel Bryan might just stand a chance to be in the WrestleMania XXX main event.
What happened on Raw?
This past Monday night on Raw, Bryan confronted The Authority inside the ring and demanded a match against the #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship – Batista, which he got. During the match Bryan nearly tamed “The Animal,” and went on to attack both Kane and Triple H. An attack from Randy Orton (who was sitting next to the announce table) on Bryan caused a DQ win for the “Flying Goat.” After the match Triple H told Bryan that he is “getting tired of his little fantasy crap,” to which Bryan responded with a kick on his face, and as it started to look like that he is going to wreak havoc again on all his enemies, a Batista Bomb out of nowhere cut the event short and then a Pedigree by Triple H ended this post-match segment for good.

These events on Raw have led to two possibilities- first, that after a match with Batista which also saw an interference from the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton, Bryan might become a part of the main event match for Orton’s championship at WrestleMania XXX and make it a triple threat match. The second possibility is that, since Triple H has finally laid his hands on Bryan, we could see the start of a feud between Bryan and Triple H on the next episode of Raw. But, right now it’s tough to guess which way Bryan’s story would unfold.
What happened on SmackDown?
Batista and Bryan got into a war of words with Kane coming in for Batista’s aid and Big Show for Bryan’s. Eventually, a tag team match was announced between Bryan-Show and Batista-Kane by Vickie Guerrero. The ending of the match saw Show hit a KO punch on Kane, and Bryan, the legal man, getting a roll up win. This win made it 2 out of 2 wins for Bryan over the #1 contender, Batista, though he didn’t pin “The Animal” on either of the two occasions.

Triple H or Triple threat, what’s more likely?
If a wrestler wins two matches against the #1 contender for the WWE Championship, no matter how, then he ought to be as much deserving as the #1 contender. But, The Authority has always made an exception for Bryan (Royal Rumble, for instance), and no matter how well he performs he will still be the scapegoat. Well, this is what the storyline speaks, but even if we look at the prospects logically then Triple H is still the #1 WrestleMania XXX opponent for Bryan, in support we even have The Authority leader on the ppv’s poster, that means he is going to wrestle, one might argue that we also have Hulk Hogan on the poster, but then he is the host of the show.
Conclusion
This week, by defeating the Royal Rumble winner, Batista, on both Raw and SmackDown, Bryan has, in a way, made himself deserving enough to get a title shot at WrestleMania XXX, and this statement is backed up by his phenomenal performances in last several months, plus the fans also want to see this happen. But, what’s more likely is that WWE will continue the storyline from where the last Raw ended when Triple H delivered a Pedigree to Bryan.
But a heel vs heel (Orton vs. Batista) main event match at WrestleMania XXX still doesn’t sound good, a face which could main event WrestleMania is always needed. Will WWE realize what’s right and give fans what they want or will they give us a match where Bryan would vent out his frustration on the man who caused him so much since last year? We will have to wait for another episode of Raw and see how this story unfolds.
