As it stands WWE is going through a difficult transition period. The stars they have built over the last decade are either becoming worn out, stale or have already disappeared.
This is not to say they aren’t capable of putting on high-quality matches time and again but there is a definite air of apathy surrounding most of the matches involving WWE’s older stars as of late.
The mid-card in WWE is overflowing with main event potential. Now this is not exactly a plus for WWE. It is largely due to their failure to capitalise on momentum from younger stars and instead either waiting too late to try and put them over into the main event or feeding them to older stars to keep them looking strong.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
There continue to be discussions within WWE about how the company keeps ending up in a position where they have to bring back older Superstars to draw when they have good talents that they’ve been working on for years still stuck in the mid card or upper-mid card, such as Cesaro, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and a few others.
Take the case of Rusev, who went on an almost year-long rampage through WWE, completely annihilating anyone who stood in his path and in the process he put on some of the best matches of any given night. How did WWE thank him for it? They fed him to John Cena for months. At one point or another all of those above mentioned men have been building momentum and some have been threatening to jump into the main event on their own only for WWE to have fluffed it at the last second.
Also, some of the established stars like Randy Orton, Big Show or Sheamus are seen as stale and forced to the point fans have no interest or are losing interest according to the WWE officials. And with Randy Orton looking to wind down to a part-time schedule and John Cena showing that Superman is in fact human during his feud with Seth Rollins, WWE will be having to look at their current main event knowing that they are wrestling on borrowed time.
As such it is time to move forward and create new stars. The mid-card is making their voice heard of late and it will surely be a wake-up call for WWE to turn them into the stars they were supposed to be.
- Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan has been out-of-action for nearly six months now due to him suffering a concussion, and it’s still unclear when, or if, he’ll ever return to the ring. Bryan, who has been wrestling for nearly two decades, has said in previous interviews that his in-ring wrestling career isn’t over, and, if WWE never clears him to wrestle, he’ll leave and go wrestle for someone else. Bryan has also said that he has been cleared to wrestle by his personal doctor, but WWE has been very hesitant to clear him.
Bryan reportedly met with Triple H and Vince McMahon sometime in early September, but we don’t know exactly what happened in the meeting. There’s also been some speculation that WWE is purposely not clearing Daniel Bryan to wrestle because they don’t want him to ruin their WrestleMania main-event plans for the third year in a row.
In other words, WWE could be holding off Bryan’s return until after WrestleMania 32. If Daniel Bryan returns, he’ll likely be thrown back into the Intercontinental Title picture due to the fact that he never lost the title. But, when, or if that’ll happen is anybody’s guess.
