It would be safe to say that Paul Heyman is one of the best things to happen to professional wrestling. Being a Paul Heyman guy elevated the career of several superstars like Brock Lesnar, CM Punk, and Roman Reigns, to name a few. The success of these superstars is why so many wrestlers respect the WWE Hall of Famer.
While the former ECW head has worked with many such legendary figures, one often wonders whether The Undertaker is a Paul Heyman guy. The answer to this question would be yes. Back in WCW, when Undertaker was known as 'Mean' Mark Callous, he was managed by the 58-year-old.
Recently, The Deadman spoke about his former manager on A&E Biography: Legends—Paul Heyman. The Phenom revealed his first reaction after he met Heyman. The former WWE World Champion stated that the former SmackDown GM was extremely passionate from the start, adding that the latter's energy was ''infectious!''
"First impressions of meeting a young Paul Heyman—loud and energetic, but passionate. Paul's always been very passionate about this business. When you are trying to come up in this business, you get discouraged pretty quickly, and Paul may be one of the best cheerleaders out there. You know, we're traveling out there, and his energy is infectious," he said.
The Undertaker also credited Paul Heyman for keeping him sane in WCW
The Undertaker had a brief stint with World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1990. The Deadman initially worked as a tag team specialist before reverting to being a singles star. He was managed by the former Wiseman of The Bloodline during his singles run.
During an episode of Six Feet Under in March 2024, The Phenom revealed that Heyman played a crucial role in keeping him sane during their time in WCW. The former WWE Champion also credited Heyman for helping him join the Stamford-based promotion.
''I was probably one of the originals and not even really aware of it because he was managing me when I went solo in WCW after Danny left. They put Paul with me. He was so instrumental in keeping me sane because I was so frustrated there with what they were doing with me, and obviously, the infamous meeting that I had with WCW’s upper management. He was such an advocate for me in the sense of getting me to Bruce, who would eventually get me to Vince and that whole thing,'' he said. [H/T: TJR Wrestling]
