Is WWE paying Randy Orton despite career-threatening injury?

Randy Orton hasn
Randy Orton hasn't competed in WWE for about a year

It has been almost a year since fans saw Randy Orton in action for WWE. While the timeline for his return is still unclear, the situation regarding his compensation is not exactly guesswork.

Randy Orton last appeared on television during a May 2022 episode of SmackDown, where he suffered a career-threatening back injury during an assault from The Bloodline.

All in-ring performers risk their bodies during matches, and it is WWE's responsibility to mitigate unforeseen circumstances. The company's top stars do not lose out on their projected pay in such an event, and the promotion also pays for their recovery.

So be rest assured that the wrestling legend is still getting paid, and WWE has got his back! Orton's contract with the company is paused in all likelihood, and will continue once he is back in action.

Hopefully, he will be back in action soon and win more titles before hanging up his boots for good.

What could Randy Orton do once he returns to WWE?

The company recently hosted the WWE Draft 2023, where all the top stars were assigned to one of the two brands. Orton will have two choices once he recovers from the injury.

If he returns to RAW, the obvious goal he can set is to become the World Heavyweight Champion. Seth Rollins and AJ Styles will battle it out at Night of Champions 2023. The Apex Predator could go on to share a rivalry with the winner and possibly go on to win the newest title in the company.

He could also reunite with Matt Riddle on the red brand or even turn heel to battle his former tag team partner.

SmackDown could also be his new home as several stars like Austin Theory, LA Knight, and Solo Sikoa would benefit from a rivalry with The Legend Killer. There is a decent chance of The Viper continuing his feud with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline once he is fit enough to wrestle.
