Iyo Sky, (real name - Masami Odate) is a Japanese Professional Wrestler. She is currently signed with WWE and is said to perform on the SmackDown brand. Iyo is the member of the Damage CTRL stable with Bayley and Dakota Kai. She is the two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, former NXT Women’s Champion, and NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion. Odate made her pro-wrestling debut in 2007 under the ring name Io Shiriai along with her older sister Mio Shirai. Io and Mio were trained by Tomohiko Hashimoto and represented his team named Team Makehen. She in her first year of pro wrestling wrestled part-time as a freelancer by appearing in multiple independent circuits in Japan including Pro Wrestling Wave, JWP Joshi Puroresu, Ibuki, and Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling. Io and Mio then debuted as full-timers in Japan’s biggest wrestling promotion, All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), and simultaneously appeared in other promotions. She continued in multiple tag team matches teaming with her sister Mio and Kana to name themselves as the Triple Tails.
In 2010, Io Shirai moved to Mexico for wrestling training debuted in the International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), and continued her tag team with her sister. The Shirai sisters then moved to AAA and changed their in-ring name, where Iyo changed to Oyuki and Mio to Kaguya. In 2011 she brought up her previous name Io Shirai and worked for Wrestling All Stars Pro to win the Americas World Mixed Tag Team Championship with Nosawa. Io Shirai returned to Japan in 2011 and wrestled for the World Wonder Ring Stardom for almost eight years, where she achieved great success by winning the Artist of Stardom Championship (6 times), Goddess of Stardom Championship, High-Speed Championship, SWA World Championship, Wonder of Stardom Championship (twice), World of Stardom Championship (twice).
In 2017, Io Shirai got an offer from WWE to participate in the Tryouts at WWE Performance Center and was later was assigned to work with WWE’s developmental brand NXT, where she participated in the Mae Young Classic Tournament and lost in the finals to Tony Storm. Since then, she has been a force to be reckoned with in WWE, winning the WWE Women’s Championship, Money in the Bank, NXT Women’s Championship, NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship, WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, and Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
