It's been just a week since Jey Uso became Intercontinental Champion, but fans are already gushing over his reign. Given that this is his first-ever singles title in his career, this should come as no surprise. But, winning the title is just half the battle, now he must take the belt to new heights. And, he might just do so, as he could break a 27-year-old WWE record that his cousin, The Rock, held.

The 27-year-old WWE record in question here is actually exclusive to the Anoa'i family. This record is the longest IC Title reign in the family's history, and it is currently held by The People's Champion for an astonishing 264 days. This reign, which holds a special place in the Anoa'i family history books, started on December 8, 1997, and came to an end on August 30, 1998.

Now, given this is Jey Uso's first singles title, WWE would do well to make his reign special. So, what better way, than to have him outdo his cousin, the future Hall of Famer, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? What's more, it would add an interesting twist once The Final Boss returns, giving him a reason to target the leader of the Yeet Movement.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

It would be great to see Jey Uso make history with the IC Title. But, as things stand, this is nothing more than speculation. There really is no telling what WWE has planned for The Main Event's reign.

WWE has made a slight change to Jey Uso's Intercontinental Championship

Jey Uso's Intercontinental Championship reign has already become iconic, and it hasn't even been a week. Now, whether this change was made solely because this is Jey we're talking about, or simply because of nostalgia, we cannot tell. But, WWE has made a slight change to the Intercontinental Championship belt.

In 2019, WWE introduced a new look title. Keeping it simple, it was a gold plate placed on a black belt, with all the necessary engraving to give it a new and unique look. However, with Main Event Jey now at the helm, it seems as though WWE has decided to take inspiration from previous iterations, as they have brought back and added a bit of blue to the belt.

Looking at it from every angle, it certainly does seem more like some of the previous designs. The best part is, that hardly anyone is complaining. After all, this new design not only represents Jey perfectly, but also pays homage to the great history of the title.
